8 Budget tourist Destinations from Kolkata

Make these destinations in your visit list for 2019.

1-Gangtok

Gangtok is the Capital Northeastern state Sikkim. It’s a beautiful landscape and mountain attracts couple and loving birds. The Darjeeling Himalayan railway or Toy Train is the world heritage site which runs between New Jalpaiguri and Darjeeling. One can see stunning sunrise against Himalayan Mountain especially Tiger Hill peak. This is the highest view in Darjeeling at height of 8482 feet. Ghoom Monastery, Batasia Loop and Rock Garden are major attraction other than astonishing Tea garden.  You can get a good hotel with wooden flooring in your Budget. Don’t forget to try local food and dress like local. Your Daily expenditure and the best time to travel is just the same as Gangtok because both destinations located side by side.

3-Lachung-Yumthang Valley

Lachung is small village located at 120 km from the capital of Indian state Sikkim. Yumthang valley is another exciting destination situated at 11,800 feet where you can see a snow-capped mountain and a valley with beautiful flowers in the rainy season. In Lachung, you will find good Homestay for night accommodation with all meals at a very low cost 1500 rupees per night. For low-cost tourist sharing car is the best way to travel from Gangtok-Lachung-Gangtok. Usually, Nights are very cold in winter so don’t forget to carry heavy woollen cloth and Local wine.

4-Lachen-Gurudongmar lake

Lachen is another wonderful village in Sikkim with perfect picturesque and gateway of World Highest Lake Gurudongmar Lake situated at height of 17,800 feet. You can get a taxi from Gangtok to Lachen and stay your night here only. Early morning you can get a private car or pre-booked taxi for Gurudongmar Lake. Homestay in Lachen with all meal will cost no more than 1700 rupees per night. You can add this tour to your Gangtok tour itinerary

5-Sunderban Tour

World largest Delta Made by Holy River Ganga and its tributaries. Sunderban is covered with mangroves forest near to bay of Bengal. Its 40 % area comes under India while remaining is in Bangladesh. One can reach Sunderban from Kolkata. Many local trains available from Sealdah railway station to canning. Then local taxi is available for Godkhali from where you can enter into Sunderban area through Cruise of Boat. It is only 110 km from Kolkata. You can avail 03 days tour package at rupees 4500 with all meals, Night stays in cottage and sightseeing by cruise. Sunderban is known for Royal Bengal Tigers and others reptiles’ animals. 6-Digha

If you fun lover and freak to Sun, Sea and Sun the Digha would be a perfect stopping place for you. Other than Digha, some pleasing sea beaches like Mandarmani, Tajpur and Bakhali also welcome you whole the year. It is well connected with railways and roadways. You can catch a train from Howrah station and a Drive approx 190 km from Kolkata. You can get very cheap hotels in your budget. Your per day cost for Meals and stay will not cost more than 1600 rupees per night. You can taste various seafood and experience water sports.

7-Dooars

Dooars is an interesting landmass having boundaries with Bhutan, Nepal, Assam and of course Bengal. Previously it was the part of Bhutan and after the independence, it comes under Indian territories. Presently it is Jalpaiguri District of West Bengal. Dooars is famous for its beautiful forest and River Teesta, Brahmaputra floodplains. Famous tourist spot near to Dooars are Jaldapara wildlife sanctuary, Lataguri Forest, Jaldhaka.  You can stay for 2-3 days and enjoy wildlife safari. There are many resorts available near to lataguri to see the various flora and Fauna in the forest. New Jalpaiguri and Bagdogra is the nearest railway station and Airport respectively.

8-Pelling

Pelling is a small town in west Sikkim having footmark of Buddhist monk Guru Padmasambhava. It has unique monastery known for wall painting and sculptures.  You can view Mountain Khangchendzonga from your Hotel window. It is situated at height of 7000 feet so weather is perfect all around the year. Winter is a good time for Budget tourist. In the summer season the number of tourist increase due to hot summer in lower part of India. Pelling is divided into three Parts, Upper Pelling, Lower pelling and Middle pelling. Buddhist Monastery is the major attraction for tourist. I will recommend this place for solo travellers who are looking for a peaceful host and mount top self-actualization.
